The King of Cups

Three of Wands_edited.jpg

Balance - looking at things from two perspectives.

I love this King. He is handsome. He is smiling. He holds a cup in his left hand and a staff in his other. He rules his kingdom with a kind heart. He looks to support and protect his subjects as well as protecting the wealth of the kingdom itself. He has a way of looking at all sides of the picture. He does not rush to action, but contemplates his moves.

Cups represent the way we see ourselves in our world. We all look at ourselves through the lens of our own emotions.

The message this week is staying calm. When this king comes up, it is a gentle reminder to not let your emotions take over. By looking at both sides of an issue in a fair and logical way, we can gain a new perspective. Balance is the key to this card. Balance your life. Work hard but then play hard. Validate your own emotions, but show empathy for others. Most importantly, when making choices, keep your head about you. Don't make rash decisions based on emotions. Be fair and honest and stay calm.

Perhaps a meditation or a mantra is in order this week?

  • I choose wisely

  • I feel comfortable and focused

  • Every breath I take calms me
