The Four of Pentacles

Three of Wands_edited.jpg

Afraid - fear of losing something.

The beautiful woman on this card is clutching a pentacle in her hands. She is standing on two more. The fourth pentacle appears to be in her flowing hair. She is hunched over and looking back over her shoulder.

What is she afraid of - losing something?

Pentacles represent earthly possessions. Fours are all about balance.

What is this card trying to tell us this week? Perhaps if we hold on too tight we may lose our balance and fall. Risking everything in the process.

With the holidays approaching life can start to get hectic. We all conjure up memories from the past. The movie industry has a frenzy this time of year force feeding us a picture of what this season should look like. I never liked the holidays. We were always scaping by and my kids didn't understand why they got less then their friends did.

So I took a different route. I set off to teach my kids about giving. I had them look through their closets and find something they hadn't played with for over a year. My daughter had a Rainbow Bright Doll. She hardly ever touched it. So I had her wrap it up and we put it on the doorstep of a little girl in our neighborhood. We then kind of forgot about it. Until...one day I was out walking and I saw that little girl playing with that doll.

This week the Four of Pentacles is letting us know that we may be so afraid of losing something that it has thrown us off balance. Holding onto to something tightly does not insure that we can keep it. We may think we are losing control. Control of what? No one likes to be afraid, so we flip it around and become defensive, overly protective or miserly, angry with ourselves or others.

So let go...................... Breath deep and realize that holding onto to something tightly may just make it slip out of our hands more easily. Think about giving instead.
