The Sun

When I was a little kid I used to love to sit in front of the fireplace and watch the fire burn. Of course this was a seasonal thing. During the summertime it was too, too hot to make a fire. But some days deep in the winter when it was raining, my dad would make a fire. I would lie on the floor (in front of the fire) in the living room and stare at the logs burning, mesmerized by the beauty of the fire.

The flames would talk to me. They would say things like warmth, contentment, safe, love.

Last night I made a fire in my Chiminea that sits on my deck. I was staring into the fire just like I used to do when I was little. It took me back to me lying on the floor in the living room of my parents house where I grew up. I felt the warmth and was content within that moment.

The Sun in the Tarot Deck is one of the most positive of cards. The Sun, in our universe, is the source of all life on this planet. During the day it shines a light on our world and helps us navigate the day.

When the Sun comes up in a reading it is time to express yourself and shine your light. Shadows are dispelled and you can freely explore new avenues of adventure. Embrace the moment and be creative.

So getting back to the fire... I think that the more positive memories we can conjure up from our past, the better. I have friends who only focus on the bad stuff from the past. That is, they may remember good and bad, but the bad stuff seems to carry more weight. It is up to all of us to the shine our light and dispel the darkness of our past and let the warmth of the fond memories make a larger presence in our lives.
