Reading for yourself...

I did a 3-card spread on myself the other day and WOW are you kidding me?!

I did a reading for a friend at the same time and her cards were all light and airy with positives notes. Then my spread came up and I just had to take a step back. How on earth does this apply to me? I am a pretty optimistic kind of person and I use my intuition for most things. But what was I missing?

That is the joy of the cards! Readings can point things out to you that you might not even be aware of. So let's break it down.

  • The Ten of Wands - Burden. The card shows a guy carrying a heavy load that is clearly weighing him down. Ten's represent the ending of something and the beginning of something else. Wands indicate action is required.

  • The Nine of Swords - Nightmare. This card shows a young girl sitting up in bed covering her eyes with demons all around her. Nine's stand for action, courage, self-confidence. Swords are the suit of air, using your mind to make decisions and to cut through illusions.

  • The Seven of Cups - Illusion. A robed figure stares down at a reptile with seven cups positioned all around the monster. The figure is hiding his/her face with a mask and holds a scull in the opposite hand. Seven's stand for dreams, illusions, and magic. Cups represent our emotions and how we live our lives and make our decisions through our emotions. Cups are the suit of water and indicates balance is needed in our lives.

The Card of the Day Spread:

  • The important aspects of the day or week or month ahead. Answer: The Ten of Wands. I need to stop taking blame for everything I perceive is going wrong.

  • Personal issues that require attention. Answer: The Nine of Swords. I need to stop waiting for the other shoe to drop. Take a look at what is worrying me and logically address the issue or issues.

  • What to look out for. Answer: The Seven of Cups. Wishful thinking or kidding myself that I know all of the answers is counterproductive. I need to stop daydreaming and set some of my emotions aside to have a clearer look at what is realistic for me.

I then drew a clarifying card.

  • Clarification Card: The Queen of Wands. I love this fiery Queen! She is telling me that I cannot just sit back and let things happen to me (emotionally or physically). I need to take action and dedicate myself to the task at hand. This Queen knows what she wants and where she is going. She is reminding me that I have those same characteristics and I need to refocus on that.

The moral to the story is, that the cards are here to help. Reading for yourself will open your eyes to deeper meanings that you can use to increase your intuition. Have fun with that!
