the ten of pentacles

Two of Pentacles_edited.jpg

Tens represent endings and beginnings, new destinations, fulfillment.

“Sticking to the rules and following the path of convention could mean

following the advice of your elders or, at the least, using them as a resource. There may be someone in your life like that right now.”

The suit of Pentacles is associated with the material world. It is the way we see ourselves living in the world and how we relate to it.

The card shows an elder and a young man. The elder is patting a dog. The young man is smiling down on the scene. They are all standing under an arch or entryway. There are grapes hanging from the top of the arch. In the background there is a private courtyard with lush foliage all around.

The elderly man represents life’s achievements. He has worked hard and protected his home and family. The courtyard is securely surrounded by the lush foliage referring to a physical protection. The young man and dog represent family. The grapes indicate abundance. This is a time of peace and prosperity for the elder and a good foundation for the young man (a grandson).

The Ten of Pentacles denotes a time of success and fulfillment. The elder is enjoying his home and family. Pets suggest a stable environment, like the family home. Again, the grapes and large courtyard suggest prosperity.

You have reached a time in your life that everything is going well. You may be enjoying financial success and a stable home life. At work you may be building a sound financial future. Pulling this card means that the decisions you are making now will have a positive effect on your future.

Sticking to the rules and following the path of convention could mean following the advice of your elders or, at the least, using them as a resource. There may be someone in your life like that right now. Listen to them, as they have negotiated the pitfalls you may be falling into.

You know that song by Neil Young, “Old man look at my life, I’m a lot like you were.” The younger generation always forges ahead on their own without wanting the advice of their parents or grandparents. But our parents and grandparents have a lot of wisdom that could help us. They have worked to protect us all their lives.

Action: Seek the advice of someone in your family or immediate circle that is older than you are. You don’t have to use the advice but consider it.
