the four of pentacles

Two of Pentacles_edited.jpg

Fours represent stability, hearth, home.

“Remember that real power cannot be won with increased wealth. No matter how much wealth you accumulate, there is a tendency to just want more. Focus should be the quality of your own values which cannot be taken away from you.”

The suit of Pentacles is associated with the material world. It is the way we see ourselves living in the world and how we relate to it.

The card shows a beautiful woman grasping a pentacle in her two hands. She is also standing on two pentacles, while the fourth one is in her hair. She is looking over her shoulder as if she is expecting someone to try to steal her treasure from her. The look on her face is that of suspicion.

This beautiful woman is holding on to the four pentacles quite aggressively. Her goal is to keep them to herself, and she is constantly looking behind her to make sure no one else can take them.

Well, this is pretty clear. Holding on to something and not wanting to let it go. Be it an actual possession, or feelings, or a bad relationship. At work it would be holding onto control and not letting anyone else in to help. There could be two meanings to this card. That is, it is time to let go, or maybe hold on to what works and let go of the rest.

When drawing the Four of Pentacles you are looking at the world of materialism at its worst. Words like controlling, stubborn, stagnant spring to mind. When we are feeling possessive it often times means that we are afraid of losing something. That could be so many things. It may also mean that feeling powerless is provoking one to try and control a situation.

The good news is you have worked hard, and you have attained a certain amount of material wealth (or on the way to attaining it). But remember that real power cannot be won with increased wealth. No matter how much wealth you accumulate, there is a tendency to just want more. This can leave you mentally exhausted. Focus should be on the quality of your own values which cannot be taken away from you.

Take a deep breath and repeat, I am enough.
