the five of pentacles

Two of Pentacles_edited.jpg

Fives represent versatility, communication, opening up.

“Ask yourself: “What is missing in my life?”. Well then, don’t just sit there, go out and discover what it is! These cards won’t do the work for you, but they do point you in the right direction.”

The suit of Pentacles is associated with the material world. It is the way we see ourselves living in the world and how we relate to it.

The card shows a woman holding her bundled up child tightly in her arms. The woman’s eyes are closed. She has a bandana and work clothes on. The child is sleeping peacefully. The five pentacles are positioned in a star-flower shape behind them. There are flower vines along the side of the card.

Pentacles are associated with material items and how we view the world through the lens of our possessions. It makes perfect sense that the woman feels a lack of security. Mother and child are seemingly in a bad situation. Cold or hungry. The five pentacles above her head however are a hopeful sign; the earth provides. The innocent child in her arms portrays the future.

This woman is upset or anxious. She is holding her child close for warmth but also for comfort. It appears that she is experiencing hard times. Feelings of anxiety can spill out into all areas of our lives: relationships, job, or health. Being anxious about finances affects many of us. Or anxious about the relationships in our lives. Feeling lonely or feeling separate from the world can make life hard.

If you are feeling insecure, unfulfilled, or lonely, today is a good time to start communicating your feelings (to yourself or even others). Admit how you feel and look for answers. If you have lost something a void will be created. Nature has a habit of filling voids so do not worry.

When this card comes up, especially in a daily reading, the question to ask is, “What is missing in my life?”. Well then, don’t just sit there, go out and discover what it is! These cards will not do the work for you, but they do point you in the right direction.

Action: Today, ask yourself: What’s missing? Scan the room around you and notice all of your blessings. Try not to focus on what you don’t have, but what you do. Worrying about something never solves the problem.
