the empress

The Empress is card number three. Words associated with the number three are optimism, abundance of energy, creative potential, fertility, or at its worst lack of focus.

“Take care of yourself today! Find some time just for yourself.

What is it that makes you happy? Do it!”

The Empress is sitting tall, hair flowing on her throne. With a crown of stars and flowers in her hair, in her hand and in front of her, her look is pensive. Her gown is loose and comfortable, and she seems at one with nature.

With nature all around her, we can safely say that the Empress represents the embodiment of the Earth Mother archetype. She signifies a strong connection with our feminine side. Which could mean sensuality, fertility, creative expression, nurturing… The star crown on her head represents her connection with the mystical realm.

This card has all the qualities of a caring nurturing mother. Theoretically moms just want us to be happy, right? As this card also symbolizes our feminine side, expression, and creativity then it is worth it to look at all sides of this beautiful card. On the fertility/creativity side of things, maybe the birth of a new idea, a new relationship, or a new job opportunity is coming your way. On the nurturing side of things perhaps a day of introspection.

Because this card is supposed to be about today, then let’s concentrate on the present. Take care of yourself today! I do not know what you have planned but find some time just for yourself. What is it that makes you happy? Do it!

Or maybe just call your mom! It wouldn’t hurt…
